Date: Thursday, May 12th 2016
Time: 9:00am – 4:30pm
Venue: The Round Room, Mansion House, Dawson St, Dublin 2.
Data Solutions will host its fourth annual Secure Computing Forum on Thursday, 12 May 2016 in the elegant surroundings of The Round Room at The Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2. Ireland’s largest IT security event, the forum will be attended by more than 300 IT and business professionals.
Leading authorities will outline the major security threats facing Irish businesses today and will provide a comprehensive understanding of the main challenges, offering strategic advice on best practice methods to combat cybercrime.
The results of Data Solutions’ most recent survey highlight the value of the Secure Computing Forum, with a worrying number of Irish businesses stating that they have been held to ransom by a hacker before. Over three quarters have taken steps to improve their security on the back of the rising number of cyberattacks and more than half of Irish organisations do not provide regular training to staff on IT security.
The 2016 Secure Computing Forum will address these shortcomings and provide the tools and expert knowledge Irish business leaders need to protect their organisations. One of the key speakers at the event is James Lyne, global cyber security specialist and certified instructor at the SANS Institute. James has given multiple TED talks and has featured on CNN, NBC, BBC and Bill Maher discussing cyber security.
Daniel B. Garrie, scholar and leading cyber security, e-discovery and forensics expert is also speaking. Daniel has founded and sold several technology companies, including SearchApp.com and LegalTech Group LLC and is a regular expert witness in State and Federal Courts on multi-billion dollar disputes relating to cyber security.
Other key speakers at the forum include Ondrej Krehel, CEO and founder, LIFARS LLC and former CIO of IDT911; Dr Robert Griffin, chief security architect, RSA – the security division of EMC; and Garry Connolly, president and founder of Host in Ireland, where he oversees the direction and promotion of Ireland as the optimum location to host digital assets.
This year’s Secure Computing Forum will be hosted by Data Solutions’ own David Keating, head of security. Over the past 15 years, David has helped to position Data Solutions as the distributor of choice for leading global security vendors such as Check Point, RSA, HP Aruba and Symantec. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with other IT Security and top ranking professionals, ask questions of elite executives on specialist panels, and discuss the latest infosec trends.
The event will include a special Irish CISO Panel Discussion that discusses the importance of securing the supply chain, the route through which many large scale cyberattacks have taken place such as the high profile attack on retail giant Target. Other topics to be discussed at the SCF include:
- Cyber Threats – Present, Future and Unknown
- Protecting your Brand – How to ensure maximum security across your organisation
- Legal – Steps you need to take to prepare for the new EU Data Protection legislation
- Fighting Back– Technology, Processes and People
